As I described yesterday I go my new logo design from @Noyesdesign and I have decided that I would love to have to painted on the wall of my new studio, but much larger
I could just paint it on ( as I would usually do) but I am worried about accuracy and getting it to look really crisp.
I have thought of maybe making a stencil, but I have not a clue how to do that,
It would look great on the wall - how big do you want to get it? A stencil sounds like a good idea, depending on the size you want maybe you could print a "welly" in two halves, then cut out and paste into a stencil template?
do you have an old overhead projector? That way you could draw it (or print it) on the acetate and then project any size you want onto the wall. Just a thought Ed x
I have painted murals on the wall, I used the old fashioned squares idea to scale up, it makes it much easier. You just get your design, overlay it with a grid of squares drawn on tracing paper, 1cm or 2cm or 1 inch or whatever and x the number by however much bigger you want it, then draw the larger squares on the wall. It is hard to draw on an upright surface and the squares make it easy to keep the proportions correct. Use pencil on the wall for both squares and design, then just over paint in acrylics. Job done. ReplyDeleteI was gonna suggest OH projector as well - but in absence of one what about a torch - think silhouettes!?
ReplyDeleteWhy don't you have a large canvas, maybe divided into two or three next to each other with a little gap :] Can look very nice!
